Finding the right advice on feeding donkeys can be hard as many people think they are just small horses. But donkeys are different to horses in several ways, one being their dietary requirements. Being adapted to semi-arid environments, donkeys have adapted to utilise their food more efficiently, gaining more nutrients and energy from what they eat. This means they have different daily intakes, process food differently and require lower energy feeds, whilst still needing to consume a balanced diet.
