Dr Stephanie Wood is the Director and founder of the Equine Science Academy. Stephanie (or Stef as she’s known) is dedicated to making technical, scientific information accessible to everyone. By providing opportunities for people to learn and develop understanding, she enables them to make educated choices. Her belief in empowering and supporting people runs through the core of the Equine Science Academy.

Stef has worked with horses since she was a Saturday girl at her local stables. Her experience spans individual privately owned horses through to large commercial yards, with every horse, pony, and donkey providing a learning opportunity. Her practical experience is supported by a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science from Aberystwyth University and a PhD in Equine Nutrition from the University of Edinburgh. Her technical and practical expertise enable her to work in equine supplement and feed companies where reviewing research, developing products, and providing advice are daily norms.

Stef also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary and Higher Education and has many years experience in equine education and knowledge transfer. This is where her passion comes from for helping others to learn.

She is a Registered Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition, requiring her to keep up to date with developments in equine nutrition through attendance to scientific and industry conferences, reviewing research, and working collaboratively with peers in the industry. She is also a Registered Animal Technologist with the British Society of Animal Science and is part of several equine industry body working groups.

This combination of practical, real-world experience and technical knowledge enable her to provide realistic and achievable animal-centred advice.
